The lovely Meg McNulty tagged me in this delightful hop. If you're not following Meg, you should! She's wonderfully witty and an exceptionally talented writer! Check out her blog From Darcy to Dionysus or say hi on Twitter ~ @charitygirlblog.
Launched by Vicki Orions, this blog hop is about how we as writers get our inspiration. What inspires our stories? How do we come up with our ideas? Which actors and actresses do we wish could play the roles of our main characters? :) It's pretty simple. I answer ten questions about my current work in progress and then I tag five writers to do the same. Don't forget to pop over to Vicki's blog Page After Page to see her answers, too!
1. What is the name of your book?
The Selkie Enchantress
2. Where did the idea of your book come from?
The Selkie Enchantress is the second book in the Seal Island Trilogy. It's a magical Irish romance starring Liam O'Sullivan and Caitlin Conner, two secondary characters in The Selkie Spell (the first book in the trilogy).
3. In what genre would you classify your book?
Fantasy Romance/Irish Fairy Tale Romance
4. If you had to pick actors to play your characters in a movie rendition, who would you choose?
The oh-so-dreamy Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Liam O'Sullivan, Professor of Irish Mythology.
The fiery beauty Kate Winslet as Irish Islander Caitlin Conner.
Irresistible Scarlett Johansson as the mysterious otherworldy beauty Nuala Morrigan who stirs up trouble the moment she sets foot on Seal Island.
5. Give us a one sentence synopsis of your book.
Caitlin Conner must find the key to unlocking a mysterious Irish fairy tale that has remained hidden for hundreds of years to save her true love from a powerful sorceress who has three days on land to win his love and take him with her back into the sea.
6. Is your book already published/represented?
The Selkie Enchantress is set to release summer 2012!
7. How long did it take you to write your book?
8. What other books within your genre would you compare it to? Or, readers of which books would enjoy yours?
Readers of Nora Roberts magical Irish trilogies might like the Seal Island Trilogy.
9. Which authors inspired you to write this book?
In am constantly inspired by Alice Hoffman's stunning prose and dazzling magical realism. My stories push the edge of genre fiction, dipping into a deeper darker fairy tale realm while still conforming to the general rules of the genre of romance.
10. Tell us anything which might pique our interest in this book?
The Selkie Enchantress is a modern-day fairy tale set on a magical Irish island where wild roses hold secrets to powerful spells and enchantments that can only be broken by true love's spell. The magical roses in this story are white, grown in the dead of winter. Their petals cold and hard as ice. Every time a petal falls it shatters like glass. And Caitlin will have to find a way to break the spell and save her love before that last petal falls, or the Selkie Enchantress wins. And Liam is lost to the sea forever.
